Japantown

The 75 foot pagoda, which was a gift to San Francisco from the Japanese, marks the center of Japantown. The Japanese community in San Francisco is the largest in the United States and has been in existence for 75 years. The Peace Pagoda Garden was recently remodeled and is the home of the Cherry Blossom festival in April in which San Francisco's sister cities from Japan are represented. The Garden is surrounded by the many shops, restaurants, and Robert Redford's Sundance movie theatre.
